Living in Brampton, just outside of the riding, the Liberal incumbent hopes to be voted back for a sixth-consecutive term. Malhi, 59, was first elected to the House of Commons in 1993.
He has served as parliamentary secretary to various ministers, including the Minister of National Revenue, the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, the Minister of Industry and the Minster of Labour. He also served as chairman of the House of Commons Standing Committee for the Library of Parliament.
A married father of two, Malhi earned a degree in Political Science from Punjab University in India.

Stella Ambler

Stella Ambler, the Conservative Party of Canada candidate, has spent the past 27 years living in Brampton. Although she lives outside the riding's boundary, she grew up in Brampton and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School. After high school, she attended the University of Toronto and earned a degree in psychology.
Upon graduation, the 42-year-old worked at ScotiaMcLeod as a brokerage assistant before switching gears to work in politics. She has worked as an organizer for the Ontario PC party and has managed four election campaigns in Brampton for Conservative candidates.
A daughter of Italian immigrants, she volunteers at her children's school, at the St. Marguerite D’Youville parish and also works as a fundraiser for the The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
She and her husband Richard own and operate an insurance brokerage.

Jash Puniya thinks he can shake things up and eliminate the status quo.
The 44-year-old has lived in the riding for the past four years. He and his wife Rupinder, an early childhood educator, have two young sons.
Puniya works as a project manager and holds a degree in computer science.

Green Party candidate Mark Pajot got into politics to fight for a decent future for his children. The 38-year-old holds a Masters in environmental studies from York University and works for Peel Public Health as a health promotion officer in the Environmental Health Division. He also will be moving into a new job shortly as a research and policy analyst.
Married to wife Afsaneh, he's the father of two young boys. He lives in Thornhill, but says working in Peel Region has made him aware of the constituency and the issues they face.
He's currently involved in a number of research projects, including one with Health Canada's climate change office under Dr. Peter Berry to assess Canadians perceptions of health impacts from climate change and another with the University of Toronto examining health promotions role in addressing climate change. He's also co-lead of a research group at the University of Toronto's Centre for Urban Health Initiatives called Environmental Health Justice in the City.

Frank Chilelli

Frank Chilelli, 41, is an educator and activist who believes that young people need well-funded schools, community centres and social services in order to thrive.
The 41-year-old founded the Bramalea-Gore-Malton Citizens' Committee, an organization that encourages discourse amongst residents of the riding. Working as a teacher at the Peel District School Board, the married father has lived in the riding for the past five years. He joined the Marxist-Leninist party in 1996.
